Gulbenkian Prize to Samuel Martins (Nov 2007)
Our colleague Samuel Martins is one of the winners of the 2007 edition of the Gulbenkian Prize "Estímulo à Investigação". The proposed work consists in the development of simulations of astrophysical scenarios leading to the generation of gamma ray bursts, the most extreme events in the Universe. Samuel's work will allow a new perspective about the physical phenomena involved, by taking into account the acceleration of particles in these events.
