Welcome to ICPDP5

Dusty plasmas are relevant to the understanding of astrophysical, space and laboratory phenomena. Charged dust particles play an important and sometimes dominant role in plasma dynamics, and their understanding is of utmost importance for particle and energy transport processes in complex plasmas. At the University of the Azores, during May 2008, the progress in observations, modelling and simulations of dusty plasma physics has been examined, in connection with astrophysical, space and laboratory settings.

More about ICPDP5

This is a continuation of our series of International Conferences on the Physics of Dusty Plasmas which take place every three years at different locations around the globe (Goa, India, 1996; Hakone, Japan, 1999; Durban, South Africa, 2002; Orleans, France, 2005). The present conference has provided a unique opportunity for disseminating the present status of dusty plasma physics among participants from developing and industrialized countries. This series of international conferences has proven to be highly beneficial to the participants from the developing countries and young researchers from all over the world.

Coming next...

The sixth edition of the ICPDP will be held in the Spring of 2011, in Munich, Germany. For more information, please contact Dr. Hubertus Thomas, of the Max Planck Institute for Extraterrestrial Physics, in Garching.
